Edge EVC Overview

Introduction

Ethernet Virtual Circuit is a method to transport ethernet frames with greater flexibility and feature set for scalability.

Overview

  • EVC is a method to bridge two layer 2 domains via a P2P pseudo-wire rewriting the VLAN tags for greater scalability. For example one side can use vlan 10 while the other side will see vlan 20. This allows for greater scalability of VLANs and MAC address.
